Roosevelt/Green Lake Art Corridor Seattle, Washington 2002 |

The Roosevelt and Green Lake neighborhoods of Seattle are dissected by a gloomy and deteriorated park-and-ride lot beneath Interstate-5. A group of citizens from these neighborhoods hired Haddad|Drugan to develop an Art Plan for the site. The project involved an extensive public process including frequent meetings with the community steering committee and two public workshops where issues and ideas were explored. Given the vast scale of the site, art is focused along the three street corridors running through it. Other major projects include a linear light element attached to the highway overpass, a skateboard park and community gathering area, and signature artworks on columns. The art plan also includes urban design improvements such as lighting, planting, crosswalks, and renovated bus stops. Goals for implementing art include:
